Hello, I’m Emile

During my studies, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from UNISA, an Honours degree in Social Science in Psychology from UCT, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (cum laude) from Rhodes University. I have been registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa since 2003 (PS0083291). My practice number with the Board of Healthcare Funders is 0201901.

I spent a year working as a senior psychologist at a prominent private inpatient adolescent unit, and then moved on to their adult inpatient addiction unit, where I worked as part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team. Later, I was appointed clinical director of an inpatient addiction unit, where I was responsible for staff training, ongoing supervision of staff, managing a team of nursing staff, as well as running groups, lectures and individual sessions. In the same year I facilitated a staff group for another drug-rehabilitation centre and provided individual supervision for their staff.

How do I get help for myself or my loved one?

The first step in getting help is finding out whether you have a problem. A trained clinical psychologist can effectively perform a professional assessment, which will identify whether you have any problem areas, and will recommend the treatment most appropriate for you if necessary.
